Thank you for your inquiry about the Tidewater Electrical Industry's Electrical Apprenticeship Program. As an apprentice, you will be working side by side with a Journeyman Wireman. You will "earn while you learn" by receiving on-the-job training. Apprentices also attend classes two nights a week for 4 years. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will receive your Virginia state journeyman electrician license.
If you do not have all the qualifications for the apprenticeship program, you can still be placed to work as a Construction Wireman. CWs work side by side with journeymen as well as apprentices and construction electricians. You gain knowledge and skills of the trade, and can advance through on-the-job training. Construction Wiremen, however, can not work on any federal or state-funded job.
You can apply to the apprenticeship program by visiting the JATC website at: http://www.tidewaterjatc80.com. Or you can contact Meghan Hurt : (757) 480-2812 or meghanhurt@tidewaterjatc80.com
