The ongoing campaign to organize E&P Electric has been progressing well, and rather quickly. With the help of several VOC members, Organizer Fisher has identified many of their jobsites, and made contact with most of E&P's employees. Many are receptive to the idea of joining the union, as they are receiving sub-standard wages and few, if any, benefits. Organizer Fisher has been able to place several salts in at E&P and they are helping gather information as well. There is an informational meeting with their employees schedule very soon. This is to answer any of their questions in a non-hostile environment. The VOC members have been instrumental in providing information about jobsites and sightings of E&P employees.
As of August 2nd, we have secured enough signature cards to present to the NLRB for an election. Brothers Yonka and Fisher have attempted to meet with the owners of E&P, but they were not welcomed. There have since been several phone conversations and the NLRB will be quickly acting to have an election
The recent election at E&P was not successful on getting representation for the employees. We did, however, help to raise the wages of most of their employees, as well as the promice of benefits for them by their employer. We are still working to make sure that E&P abides by the laws regarding labor and keeps their word to their workers. Also, we were able to strip several key employees and have placesd some into the apprenticeship while others are being tested as journeymen.
